HPCSA CPD Compliance

Dear Members,

We wanted to bring to your attention an important matter concerning CPD (Continuing Professional Development) compliance that was recently addressed by the HPCSA (Health Professions Council of South Africa). We were made aware of mass communications sent by HPCSA to practitioners regarding CPD non-compliance. However, the information in these communications was deemed too vague, prompting us to take swift action and escalate the issue to the relevant authorities at HPCSA for further review.

We are pleased to inform you that after diligent investigation and consideration by the HPCSA, we have received feedback from their escalation process. The following actions have been taken:

  1. HPCSA has updated their FAQ section to provide more clarity on the questions raised by practitioners regarding CPD compliance. You can access these updated FAQs on HPCSA’s website or here.
  2. The updated process for uploading CPD points has been shared by HPCSA. You can find the notification regarding this process at here.
  3. HPCSA encourages practitioners to use their online services portal to request CPD updates. For instructions on how to use the portal, you can refer to the user manual.
  4. For any HPCSA CPD-related queries, please forward them to cpdproviders@hpcsa.co.za
  5. We understand that this concern was significant to many of our members, and we want to assure you that we took it seriously. The feedback we received played a crucial role in guiding the decisions made during this process.

We extend our gratitude to those who brought this matter to our attention and actively participated in providing additional insights. Your involvement is vital in maintaining the welfare and integrity of our society.

If you have any further questions or queries related to CPD points earned through PsySSA activities, please do not hesitate to reach out to us directly at cpd@psyssa.com

We are committed to transparency and open communication with our members, and we value your input.

Once again, we thank you for your continued support and engagement with our society. Together, we can address concerns, uphold our shared values, and create a stronger community for everyone.

Sincerely,

PsySSA

The workshop will cover generally the Mental Health Care Act, the National Health Act more generally as it pertains to the three registration categories.
